Regarding the YouTube video, “Three Minutes in Poland.” A New Yorker named David Kurtz revisited his birthplace of Nasielsk, located 360 kilometres north of Tarnów, in August 1938 and shot three minutes of home movie footage that was discovered by a grandson, Glenn, in 2009. This footage has been restored for a documentary narrated by Helena Bonham Carter. As well, Kurtz wrote a book called Three Minutes in Poland, published in 2014. Both reveal the environs of small town life in Poland at the time Bielecki was apprehended, as does Tim Gidal’s ghostly pictorial book, Memories of Jewish Poland: The 1932 Photographs of Nahum Tim Gidal (Gefen Publishing 2020).
